Chiller 9 Immersion Cooler

J’ai entrepris récemment de faire ma propre bière et de brasser. J’avais donc besoin d’un serpentin pour pouvoir refroidir rapidement le moût avant de le mettre à fermenter. Après quelques recherches et différentes stratégies (utiliser du cuivre et faire le serpentin par ex), j’ai finalement opté pour l’achat de ce produit.D’abord, il est en inox et ça reste le meilleur matériau pour le travail alimentaire. Ensuite, il y a 18 "tours de spire", ce qui permet un refroidissement efficace et sur une hauteur conséquente (50 cm). Son diamètre ne dépasse pas celui de mon "chauffe vin" et il passe juste à l’intérieur.Je l’ai couplé à une pompe de bassin aquatique (2500L/min) et 2 tuyaux en PVC pour irrigation (bien prendre du 12/16 mm en diamètre intérieur/extérieur). Franchement, avec ces diamètres, même pas besoin de mettre de collier de serrage, ça passe nickel et ça tient bien. La pompe permet de faire passer de l’eau qu’on refroidit (blocs froids du congel et glaçons) dans le serpentin. Pour un refroidissement optimal, il faut faire entrer l’eau par le haut du serpentin : elle va refroidir le liquide en surface et comme les liquides froids ont tendance à descendre, ça ira plus vite... (ruse de prof de sciences).Je viens de le tester cet après-midi et j’ai pu refroidir de 104/105°C à 20°C en 10 minutes environ. C’est plutôt un très beau score mais il n’y avait que 6/7 L donc avec plus de volume, ce serait probablement plus long. Néanmoins, comme le serpentin ne plongeait pas complètement, ce n’est même pas certain que ce soit plus long.Bref, je vous recommande ce refroidisseur de bonne qualité à un prix convenable.

I recently started making my own beer and brewing. So I needed a coil to be able to quickly cool the wort before putting it to ferment. After some research and different strategies (using copper and making the coil for example), I finally opted to buy this product. First, it is made of stainless steel and it remains the best material for food work. Then, there are 18 "turns of the coil", which allows efficient cooling and over a significant height (50 cm). Its diameter does not exceed that of my "wine heater" and it passes just inside. I coupled it to a water pond pump (2500L / min) and 2 PVC pipes for irrigation (be sure to take 12/16 mm in internal / external diameter). Frankly, with these diameters, you don't even need to put a clamp, it goes through perfectly and holds well. The pump allows water to pass through that is cooled (cold blocks from the freezer and ice cubes) into the coil. For optimal cooling, the water must enter through the top of the coil: it will cool the liquid on the surface and as cold liquids tend to go down, it will go faster... (science teacher's trick). I just tested it this afternoon and I was able to cool from 104/105°C to 20°C in about 10 minutes. It's a pretty good score but there were only 6/7 L so with more volume, it would probably take longer. However, as the coil did not submerge completely, it's not even certain that it will take longer. In short, I recommend this good quality cooler at a reasonable price.

Ich verwende zwei dieser Spindeln in der Feuertonne als Poolheizung. Funktioniert tadellos. Wichtig ist nur, dass man schon beim Anfeuern Wasser durchlaufen lässt und es erst abschaltet, wenn das Feuer wieder aus und die Spindel etwas abgekühlt ist.

I use two of these spindles in the fire barrel for pool heating. Works perfectly. The only important thing is that you let the water run through when you start the fire and only switch it off when the fire has gone out again and the spindle has cooled down a bit.

Kühlt mit meinem kalten Wasser innerhalb von 30min von 90 auf 25 Grad runter. Kann ich jedem Heimbrauer nur empfehlen.

Die Spirale kann nicht nur kalt sondern auch schön heiß. Ich benutze sie um meinen Hot tub zu heizen. Wie auf den Bildern zu sehen, wird die Feuerquelle dabei Rotglühend, die Spirale ist unbeeindruckt. Was natürlich auch daran liegt das kaltes Wasser durch fließt (700l/h). Was fehlt: Die Nerd gerechte Angabe des Volumes. Wenn ich Lust habe, rechne ich das Volumen aus (oder messe) und schreibe es hier zu.

The spiral can not only be cold but also nice and hot. I use them to heat my hot tub. As can be seen in the pictures, the fire source becomes red hot, the spiral is unimpressed. Which of course is also due to the cold water flowing through (700l/h). What's missing: The nerd-friendly specification of the volume. If I feel like it, I'll calculate (or measure) the volume and write it down here.

Tut was es soll, leider glatte Anschlüsse, da muss man dann ein wenig basteln, ein 1/2" Gewinde würde Sinn machen, sonst alles Top.

Does what it should, unfortunately smooth connections, you have to tinker a bit, a 1/2" thread would make sense, otherwise everything is great.

Hallo zusammen Eins vorweg, der Kühler ist super. 30 Liter kochende Würze auf 25 Grad in so ca 20 min. Den einen Stern abzug ist weil die Anschlüsse nach unten gebogen waren. Diese hab ich mit einen Bunsenbrenner erwärmt und fast gerade gebogen. Ansonsten sehr geiles Teil

Es gibt leider oder zum Glück nicht viel zu sagen. Der Kühler macht einen hochwertigen Eindruck, ist sehr stabil und hat meine Erwartungen erfüllt. Alles bestens :-)

Eine leistungsstarke Kühlspirale. Aber: 1) Muss man hier den Schlauch mit Metallklemmen befestigen, sonst leckt es 2) sind die Rohre zu kurz, um vernünftig im (auf der Abbildung zu sehenden) Maischekessel eingehängt zu werden. Es sei denn, man möchte die oberen zwei, drei Windungen außerhalb der Würze haben. Denn man wird den Kessel NIEMALS bis kurz unter den Rand füllen. Somit: nicht schlecht, aber noch Verbesserungspotential.

Super Produkt, kühlt 20l Würze mit ca. 10°C kaltem Leitungswasser binnen 5-10 Minuten auf 20°C runter. Einen Stern Abzug da die Anschlußleitungen etwas höher sein könnten und ich bei einer 30l Brauanlage nur 85% der Spirale untergetaucht bekomme. Zudem wäre ein richtiger Schlauchanschluß an den Enden auch von Vorteil da man die Schraubklemmen von dem Gartenschlauch sehr beherzt anziehen muss um das Ganze dicht zu bekommen. Geht aber alles noch und wäre eher "Feintuning". Das Teil funktioniert wirklich prächtig. Der Wasserverbrauch ist eher gering. Es reicht schon wenn man es langsam durchfließen lässt und dann meinen Tipp verwendet: Das Wasser welches am anderen Ende rauskommt ist so dermaßen heiß, dass man es auffangen sollte und später für die Reinigung der Anlage verwenden kann!
